Postdoctoral Research Associate
The Smart and Small Thermal Systems (S2TS) within the Center for Environmental Energy Engineering (CEEE) in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Maryland, College Park, seeks a Postdoctoral Research Associate to join a leading research group focused on advanced thermal solutions for energy systems, electronics and computing systems, data centers, aerospace, HVAC, and sustainable technologies.
Key Desired Expertise Areas
- Heat transfer (single/two-phase)
- Electronics and data center cooling
- Advanced heat exchangers and thermal energy storage
- CFD, multi-physics modeling, and experimental thermofluids
- Machine learning and AI for component and system-level optimization
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct cutting-edge research and simulations
- Design and test thermal systems
- Publish findings and present at conferences
- Collaborate with academic and industry partners
- Participate in proposal writing activities
Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field
- Strong background in thermal and fluid sciences, and heat transfer
- Proven research and communication skills.
- Preferred experience with CFD tools, programming (MATLAB, Python, C++), and advanced fabrication/manufacturing techniques
