The Smart and Small Thermal Systems (S2TS) within the Center for Environmental Energy Engineering (CEEE) in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Maryland, College Park, seeks a Postdoctoral Research Associate to join a leading research group focused on advanced thermal solutions for energy systems, electronics and computing systems, data centers, aerospace, HVAC, and sustainable technologies.

Key Desired Expertise Areas

• Heat transfer (single/two-phase)
• Electronics and data center cooling
• Advanced heat exchangers and thermal energy storage
• CFD, multi-physics modeling, and experimental thermofluids
• Machine learning and AI for component and system-level optimization

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct cutting-edge research and simulations
• Design and test thermal systems
• Publish findings and present at conferences
• Collaborate with academic and industry partners
• Participate in proposal writing activities

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field
• Strong background in thermal and fluid sciences, and heat transfer
• Proven research and communication skills.
• Preferred experience with CFD tools, programming (MATLAB, Python, C++), and advanced fabrication/manufacturing techniques
